YT193 shifts 5000 tonnes of potatoes every week

Peka Kroef B.V. in Odiliapeel in the south of The Netherlands supplies a wide range of chilled potato products to industry, consumers and the hospitality sector.

Lion van Lankveld told us more about the company “I started here almost 40 years ago, as a driver, and now I am the fleet manager and responsible for planning transport operations. Every week we process around 5000 tonnes of potatoes at this site. They are delivered in special trailers, with a conveyor belt to unload the potatoes without damage. We work 24/7, apart from Christmas day and New Year’s day.

We have long worked with Terberg. At another site we even have a YT17 from 1996, which still collects a few trailers from the loading dock every day. Here in Odiliapeel we have a YT182 for shunting chiller trailers with finished products. Our latest vehicle is a YT193 which moves the conveyor belt trailers between the new shunting yard and the potato sorting shed. This tractor has a height limiter on the lifting cylinders to prevent damage to the pipe bridges across the site and it has a speed limiter, set to 15 km/h when working in the yard, and 40 km/h when driving on the road. It also has additional cabling for the trailer lighting, to make shunting safer.
